Spiritual Adoption
What is the Spiritual Adoption Program?
The Purpose of the Spiritual Adoption Program is threefold:
- Encourage parishes, schools and other communities to pray for babies in danger of abortion.
- Educate adults and children about the development of the pre-born child.
- Provide mothers in need with assistance at a ‘baby shower’ of donated baby gifts, or simply celebrate with a ‘birthday party’ at the conclusion of the program. The Pro-Life Ministry will hold a baby shower in honor of Good Shepherd’s spiritually adopted children.
This is done by encouraging people to “spiritually adopt” an unborn baby, and to follow their baby along the path to being born. We encourage you to adopt and name your baby starting on Ash Wednesday (or start now!) Our spiritually adopted babies due date is November 18, 2020.
- Good Shepherd’s Adoptive Girl Baby’s Name: Amelia Grace
- Good Shepherd’s Adoptive Boy Baby’s Name: Joseph Anthony
- Due Date: November 23, 2022
Pray this prayer daily for your adopted child:
“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of [baby’s name] the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

Our Pro-Life Ministry Prayer
O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life.
Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers of babies not allowed to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult, of men and women who are victims of brutal violence, of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference or out of misguided mercy.
Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life with honesty and love to the people of our time.
Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will, the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life.
